Are there backups?
Yes. Your hosted UniFi OS controller supports the same backup features as an on-site controller.
Automatic backups
- Open Settings → System → Backups in UniFi OS.
- Enable scheduled backups (daily is recommended for active sites).
- Set retention — keep at least 7–30 days depending on how often you change the network.
Manual backups
Download a backup before:
- Major VLAN or WiFi redesigns
- Fleet-wide firmware upgrades
- Bulk device moves between sites
Name files with the date and site name so restores are easy to find.
What backups include
- Network and WiFi configuration
- Device adoption records for this controller
- Controller admin and user settings
Backups do not replace storing ISP credentials, VPN keys, or third-party secrets elsewhere.
